A Warm Welcome

As an independent midwife, I have been supporting expectant parents since 2006 through the exciting and transformative journey of pregnancy, with a special focus on the postpartum period. Whether it’s childbirth preparation, breastfeeding support, baby’s first care, or the well-being of the mother, I am here to strengthen and guide you during this unique time.

Even as a little girl, I felt a deep connection to babies. My favorite book was “A Life Begins,” and I was fascinated by how a tiny grain of rice could develop into a baby – what an incredible miracle! By the age of 10, I knew with certainty: I wanted to become a midwife and help these wonderful newcomers get the best start in life. Nothing could deter me from my path, and I followed my calling and my dream.

After completing my studies, I began my professional career in a private clinic. However, I quickly realized that I wanted to support parents from the beginning of pregnancy through to the postpartum period. In 2009, I took the leap into self-employment, becoming an attending midwife at a birth center and running my own practice in Lucerne. Since 2011, I have been living in Zurich, visiting new parents in their homes to support and guide them and their little miracles.

This work continues to enrich me every single day. I am a midwife with heart and soul, and I love the diversity and variety of my profession.

I look forward to meeting you and accompanying you on your journey into parenthood.

FAQ

1. When should I register for postpartum care?

Starting from the 12th week of pregnancy or later.

2. Do you accompany us to the hospital as a midwife?

No. Midwives employed by the hospital will assist you during the birth. Once you are discharged and back home, I will visit you for postpartum care.

3. Who pays for postpartum visits?

Your health insurance (basic coverage, exempt from deductible) covers up to 16 visits in the first 8 weeks after birth. If you have foreign insurance, please check the conditions. I will send the invoice directly to your insurance provider, so there are no costs for you.

4. How long does a postpartum visit last?

Between 45 and 90 minutes.

5. What happens during a postpartum visit?

I always check on both mother and baby. I answer all your questions and provide tips and tricks for baby care (e.g., bathing, massage, handling colic). A breastfeeding consultation is also included in every visit.

6. How often do you visit us at home, and how do we plan the visits?

Visits are planned individually based on your needs. The first visit takes place either on the day of discharge (in the afternoon) or the following morning. Daily visits occur in the first few days, and as you gain confidence and breastfeeding goes well, the intervals become longer.

Typically, 7–10 visits are sufficient for a first baby. If you feel confident, visits can be spaced out to once a week or every two weeks.

7. When is the best time to attend a childbirth preparation course?

Between week 33 and week 36 of pregnancy. Please contact me 1–2 weeks in advance to schedule a date.

8. When should I start birth preparation acupuncture?

4 weeks before your due date. One session takes place at home every week. Please get in touch with me 1–2 weeks before the 36th week of pregnancy.

9. When can I register for breastfeeding support?

Once our postpartum visits end (after 8 weeks), you can schedule breastfeeding consultations at any time. Your health insurance covers 3 sessions, regardless of the stage of your breastfeeding journey. Common topics include: Weaning, Returning to work while breastfeeding/pumping, Introducing solid foods, Managing breast infections
